Tianjin Medical University was founded in 1951; was the first medical institution approved by the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. In December 1993, with the approval of the State Education Council, the Tianjin Medical College and the Tianjin Second Medical College were integrated into the Tianjin Medical University. TMU is located in the city of Tianjin, China, near Beijing. Tianjin Medical University has also more than 50 partner universities in over 16 countries, 108 Guest-Professors of the famous research institutes from all over the world, such as the Johns Hopkins University. The university is actively committed to national higher education in the medical field and is one of the first two nationally authorized medical institutions to carry out eight-year medical education. The MBBS program offered by TMU is 6 years including 1 to 1.5 years compulsory internship. The internship can be finished in Chinese hospitals or in hospitals in your own country.

Accommodation
International students can freely make their alternatives of both staying on-campus and off-campus after one year. In order to make the international students adapt to the new environment and for their safety’s sake, they must reside in the International Students’ Building Dormitory for the first academic year. The high-rise International Student Building of Tianjin University is a modern apartment building with 16 floors, which is equipped with full supporting facilities in the room, such as refrigerator, air conditioner, color-TV set, cable television, broadband internet, etc. necessary facilities. Except bedding, the International Student Building provides all necessary furniture to the students. Students need to pay for the bedding, such as bed sheets, quilts, cushions and pillows or students can conveniently buy them in the nearby supermarket.
