Manipal College of Medical Sciences (MCOMS), Nepal is one of the premier institutions of Nepal, offering programs in medicine. It was established in 1994 as first private medical college of Nepal MCOMS is the result of collaboration between the Manipal Education Group and the Government of Nepal. MCOMS is affiliated to the Kathmandu University and is recognized across the world, for its high standards of excellence.

Rated amongst the best colleges of Nepal, Manipal College of Medical Sciences (MCOMS) is an ideal center of learning for medical students. MCOMS provides a four-and-a-half-years MBBS degree program in all the preclinical subjects and selected clinical subjects. The four-and-a-half years MBBS course is divided into 9 semesters of 6 months each. (Pre-clinical semesters 1 – 4 & Clinical Sciences semester 5 – 9) Upon successful completion of the course, students will undergo a 1 year compulsory residential rotating internship.

Approx. 1700 students have passed out of MOCMS till date and Most of the students have passed their postgraduate entrance exams / various international exams i.e., Medical Council Exams of USA (USMLE), UK (PLAB), Australia, South Africa and Sri Lanka (Act XVI / ERPM) with commendable scores.

Grades BBB or above. (AAC, ABC are also accepted). Subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics or (Mathematics). Score of 50% or above.

Note:

Students who wish to appear for the ACT16/ERPM in Sri Lanka to obtain the registration on Sri Lanka Medical Council to practice medicine in Sri Lanka should fulfill the Minimum Advanced Level entry criteria (C,C,S for Local A/L Examination and C,C,D for London A/L Examination in the subjects Biology, Chemistry and Physics) stipulated by the Sri Lanka medical Council (SLMC).

Accommodation

Student hostels are 100% residential and available to the students. There are separate hostels for men and women.

All the hostel rooms are provided on a twin-sharing basis and have furniture and other amenities like geysers for hot water. Students are required to bring their own bed linen. During the winters the minimum temperature is around 4 – 8 deg C, so warm clothing, blankets / quilts are needed. Housekeeping and laundry are outsourced.

The hostels are looked after by the hostel committee headed by the Director Student Affairs. He functions with the help of wardens and administration in-charge. The hostel staff consists of caretakers/supervisors, other attendants and maintenance staff.

Students will stay in two different hostels during their “Basic Science Phase (Pre-Clinical Year – semesters 1 to 4) ” and “Clinical Science Phase (Clinical Year –semesters 4 to 9”.

DEEP CAMPUS (Basic Sciences students)
The rooms are planned for twin occupancy. The campus has two dining halls, a canteen, gym, TV, playing fields, communications center with internet, email, fax, photocopying facilities etc.

PHULBARI CAMPUS (Clinical Science students)
Two hostel blocks consisting of six floors, each floor has 40 rooms. The rooms are planned for twin-sharing and each has an attached bathroom and balcony. The boys’ hostel basement holds a common dining hall, canteen, gym, TV and indoor recreational facilities.

The hostel has a communications center with internet, email, fax, photocopying facilities. Each hostel has a warden from the teaching faculty of the colleges who is responsible for the discipline, maintenance of building, allotment of rooms etc.
