The MBBS program offered at SRM introduces students to Basic Life Support (BLS) and emergency medicine, subjects that are not usually taught in the medical colleges following the conventional syllabus. The curriculum is based on sessions on first aid, BLS, disaster management, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and Advanced Paediatrics Life Support (APLS). Practical training in CPR and advanced life saving skills are given to each and every student.

Students can opt for:	Economic Scholarships (valid for SAARC Countries) Merit Scholarship Offered scholarship 40% on annual tuition fee 35% on annual tuition fee (if 90% score is obtained through exams) 25% on annual tuition fee (if 80% to 89% score is obtained through exams) The scholarship will be renewed in subsequent years based on candidates performing well as per the standard set by the Scholarship Committee from time to time, which is final and binding.

Students who wish to appear for the ACT16/ERPM in Sri Lanka to obtain the registration on Sri Lanka Medical Council to practice medicine in Sri Lanka should fulfill the Minimum Advanced Level entry criteria (C,C,S for Local A/L Examination and C,C,D for London A/L Examination in the subjects Biology, Chemistry and Physics) stipulated by the Sri Lanka medical Council (SLMC).

Accommodation

The SRM Institute of Science & Technology accommodation is located closer to the university (500m) and to the hospital (300m).

The university has separate hostel accommodation for both Female and Male. Undergraduate and Postgraduate students are located in two different buildings separate by their gender. There are 142 Female rooms and 150 Male rooms on the sharing occupancy basis.

The SRM Institute of Science & Technology has allocated “Supervisory Arrangement” with a Warden, Deputy Warden & House Keeper for safety measures. The hostel contains “Messing & canteen” in which the Dining hall accommodates 25% of occupants at a time. Availability of visitors’ room, reading room TV room and indoor games.
